Ana-Maria Oproescu
Co-Founder
Ana-Maria is the Co-Founder of STEM PASS and a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. She previously completed a Master of Science at the University of Toronto in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science from the University of British Columbia. Ana-Maria felt inspired to create STEM PASS when she noticed the unique difficulties faced by individuals from low-income backgrounds when applying to medical school and other high-level STEM programs in Canada.

Tanis Orsetti
Co-Founder
Tanis is the Co-Founder of STEM PASS and a medical student at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine. Prior to medical school, Tanis completed a Master of Medical Science at the University of Calgary and a Master of Global Health at McMaster University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science from the University of British Columbia. Throughout her post-secondary education, Tanis has found passion in advocating for individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds in both academic and community settings.

Brianna Walz
Communications Coordinator
Brianna Walz is the Communications Coordinator at STEM PASS and is currently studying towards a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. She previously attended the University of Toronto for her Bachelor of Science with a Major in Immunology and Minors in Psychology and Physiology. She joined STEM PASS because she is passionate about expanding access to STEM programs. As an individual who has been in post-secondary STEM education for over six years, she understands what STEM programs entail and hopes to provide assistance to others facing similar struggles while raising awareness to help the broader public understand life in STEM.

Kate MacQuarrie
Grant Coordinator
Kate MacQuarrie is the Grant Coordinator at STEM PASS and is completing her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. Kate completed her BASc in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Bioengineering at the University of Toronto in 2022. Grateful for the opportunities she has had to pursue higher education, she joined STEM PASS with the desire to give back and to contribute to larger systemic change that promotes educational equity.
